As for whether or not they fit into the EverQuest universe, the poster above was correct to point out that there are plenty of eastern fantasy elements in EQ already. EverQuest is not a pure mythology by any stretch of the imagination; we combine all kinds of fantasy together and make it our own.
And if you just dislike carpets, you have our apologies. We tried riding around on hardwood floors and it just didn't work as well.

Es wird also fliegende Teppische in EQ2 geben? Aber ich sollte eher schwebende Teppische sagen, denn fliegen werden sie ja nicht richtig.
So ein Ding ist sicher nicht "typische" Fantasy sonder past eher in die Östlische Mythologie und Märschen aus tausendundeiner Nacht, aber neben Djins und anderen Flaschengeistern, die ja auch aus diesen Quellen stammen wird er sich sicher in die Welt von Norrath einfügen.
Was ich mich frage? Werden wir auch bald das erste Quiddisch Team, inkusive schöner fliegender Besen in Qeynos und Freeport trainieren sehen? =)
